Harley Street History of Excellent Medical procedures

Harley Street is often referred to as “Medical London” due to the fact it has one of the largest concentrations of medical proficiency in the world.

Times have obviously changed since the nineteenth century when medical practitioners would have set up a surgery in their own home and arranged their own appointments and Harley Street continues to flourish as a center for all things medicinal. Needless to say the clinics found here offer the latest technology alongside some of the country’s best medical expertise.

With a long-standing reputation as a center of private medical excellence, Harley Street’s earliest associations with medicine can be traced back to around 1860 when many doctors moved into the area due to the central location and close proximity to major train stations, such as Kings Cross, St Pancras and Marylebone.

Since the nineteenth century the number of doctors, hospitals, eye surgery clinics and other medical organizations located in and around the Harley Street area has greatly increased. There were around 20 doctors practicing in the area in 1860 and a tenfold increase was recorded by 1914 when the figure rose to 200.

Another two welcome additions to the area which further enhanced the area’s reputation were the Medical Society of London, which opened in Chandos Street in 1873 and the Royal Society of Medicine which started up in 1912 on Wimpole Street.

Over the years Harley Street has been home to many famous medical professionals. Sir Henry Thompson, a great British surgeon and polymath, practiced in the area during the 1870s and went on to be appointed as chief surgeon to the King of Brussels.

Harley Street makes a highly desirable location from which to practice and the area continues to attract a large number of top medical practitioners, from eye surgeons and doctors to psychiatrists and plastic surgeons.

As well as a warm welcome, the Harley Street Skin Clinic offers patients the very latest cosmetic treatments, carried out by experienced doctors and practitioners. So you don’t need to worry about a thing.

About My Blog

Colin Smith here and yes,I might be going grey but I still have a full head of hair. Is it all my own hair, well not exactly. I have now had three hair transplants. I am delighted with the results and have decided to share my journey with you here. I had my procedure in Harley Street in London and had the FUE technique, This really worked well for me.

Some men are shy about having any kind of procedure on their hair and this is another reason why I have gone public. There really is nothing to be ashamed of,

Is a Receding Hairline Making You Look Older? FUE Hair Transplant Will Help!

Hair Transplant: Hair transplant treatments are mainly used for male pattern baldness. In this treatment, grafts containing hair follicles are transplanted onto the bald area. These grafts are taken from the donor site, which can be any part of the scalp that has hair. Although a hair transplant procedure is most commonly used for treating baldness in men, it can even be used in treating certain cases of massive hair loss in women. There are 2 types of hair transplant procedures. One is known as strip method or FUT, and the other is called FUE or follicular unit extraction.

Follicular Unit Extraction: The follicular unit extraction procedure is the most advanced technique for hair restoration. This baldness treatment is performed by an experienced surgeon at a clinic. During the treatment, the hair follicles are extracted from the back of the head, beard or any other body part called the donor site, using a micro punch. These fossils are then implanted on the bald patch of the scalp or the thinning patch, with the help of a micro blade. The procedure is non-invasive and is performed under local anesthesia. Generally, 500 to 3,000 grafts are transplanted in a session that lasts a few hours. Usually, only a single session is required. However, if there is a lot of hair loss, it could take more than one session. The procedure is safe and quite comfortable. Most patients do not experience any discomfort or pain during or after the procedure.

The results look natural and the new regrowth of hair is much stronger. Strip Method: In FUT or Strip method, a strip of skin from the donor site is removed with a scalpel. The strip is then divided into grafts, which contain 2-3 hair follicles. These are then implanted into the bald patch. As compared to follicular unit extraction, this method is painful and not very preferred. Benefits of Follicular Unit Extraction: • A safe, minimally invasive procedure that does not involve stitches or bandaging. • Virtually painless. • Donor follicles can be taken from any part of the scalp or body. • No risk of infection or scaring. •

Natural looking results. Hair transplantation stands out as a revolutionary procedure in the field of hair restoration. Going completely bald can have devastating effects on ones confidence. Thankfully, baldness treatment with follicular unit extraction provides significant benefits for men who are dealing with partial or complete baldness. The treatment provides natural results with minimum disruption. It offers significant advantages with regards to pain reduction, recovery time and final results. The best part is that this method is not restrictive and can be used by anyone as long as there are no pre-existing health complications that might clash with it.

The fue hair transplant is a very effective way to deal with hair decline and shedding. The transplant procedure has been proven to be very effective and reliable since millions of aging people were able to regain the amount of hair they desire. It has made a lot of people satisfied with their physical appearance.
